How good is coconut oil for you?

What the scriptures say

Acharya Susrutha has mentioned coconut oil as a natural cooling agent that calms pitta and vata dosha. Coconut oil nourishes the body tissues and is a natural aphrodisiac.   • According to Ayurvedic scriptures, the practice of oil pulling daily with sesame oil or coconut oil helps to maintain oral hygiene, reduces inflammation and acts as a detoxifier.
  • Oil massage daily promotes healing, relaxation and treats various diseases. It also helps to pacify vata dosha. Resorting to oil massage makes the body strong and helps gain resistance to exhaustion caused by an unhealthy and stressful life. It retards aging, improves vision, increases longevity, induces good sleep and helps maintain healthy skin.
